Arezzo is a hilly city, situated to the end of a depression that it is also the point of encounter between the Advanced Valdarno, the Valdichiara and the Cosentino. Arezzo is an ancient city, like testifies the architecture of its palaces, and in the past was considered like one of the greater Etruscan cities before, and a most important strategic node during the roman domination. In the higher part the city is dominated from the Cathedral and the Medicea Fortress. The Cathedral introduces a gothic architecture and conserve to its inside art works of great value. In center city we find the Large public square that introduces to the eyes of the visitor palaces and constructions with a myriad of architectonic styles.

Close to the medieval towers we find: the Loggiato Vasariano, an imposing construction and considered like one of the more important works of Renaissance; the Palace of “Fraternita dei Laici”, palace that encloses architectonic styles like gothic and Renaissance. Moreover Large public square accommodates also the famous chivalric tournament called “Giostra of the Saracino”. In Large public square other interesting manifestations are always carried out between which the Antiquarian Fair. Nearest there is also the Bacci Chapel, than it is found in the Basilica of Saint Francesco who to its inside contains a Piero della Francesca masterpiece, the cycle of frescoes realized from the painter that represents the “Legend of the True Cross”, today considered like the greater painting example of Renaissance in Italy. We signal moreover the Church of Saint Domenico where are conserved the “Cross Painted” realized from Cimabue.

To remember however that in all Arezzo are present other palaces, monuments and churches that deserve to come visit given the most important architectonic and historical value that they represent for the city and for the national territory. We remember between these the Abbey of the Saints Flora and Lucilla, the Church of the Saintest Announced, buildings like Pretorio Palace and Palace of the Priori, and nearest the city wall, the Church of Saint Maria of Thanks, the Romanesque Pieve of Sant'Eugenia to the Bagnoro. Without to forget the many museums that in Arezzo offer to the visitor the choice of being able to enjoy the sight of artistic works of greatest value. Between the more important we remember: Archaeological museum Gaio Cilnio Mecenate, the Museum Be of Medieval and Modern Art, the Museum and Vasari House, the House Museum Ivan Bruschi and the Diocesan Museum.
